PAINT SPRAYER WARRANTY

TriTech paint sprayer products come with a lifetime warranty on the motor and drive train, and two years on other parts.

Q-Tech paint spray guns come with a comprehensive 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT AIRLESS PAINT SPRAYER

Airless paint sprayers ensure a smooth even application but choosing the right sprayer type and size is something you need to get right.

Sprayers can be costly investments and if you go too lightweight, your projects will take more time and you’ll spend more on service and parts as they’ll wear out faster.

On the other hand, buying a heavy-duty sprayer that boasts a capacity way beyond your needs may be a wasted investment and will be awkward to handle for the smaller jobs.

Check out the handy table here for help choosing the right sprayer for every job.

SPRAYING TIPS & INFO

Airless Paint Sprayers

SPRAY PAINTING A WALL

Spray painting offers enormous benefits in terms of speed and finish quality. Keep these tips in mind to ensure you get the best results:

  • Carefully prepare the surfaces – cover or mask areas that you don’t want to be painted
  • Avoid spray painting in direct sun or when the temperature is too hot or too cold
  • Stir the paint thoroughly to avoid clogging the gun nozzle
  • Choose an appropriate tip size for the surface area you’re working with – too small and you’ll have to do too many passes; too large and you risk too wide a coverage and potential paint sags and runs
  • Keep the tip a consistent 30 cms from the surface to avoid an uneven application
  • Move the spray gun at a consistent smooth speed and overspray each end – i.e. press the trigger before you reach the area to be painted and hold it down after completing the stroke
  • Overlap each stroke to ensure an even coverage
  • Several thin coats are much better than one thick coat

A smooth even action is the key.

Remember to clean equipment thoroughly after use and add QTector pump protector to last rinse – it will help prevent clogging the next time you use the sprayer.

SPRAY PAINTER MAINTENANCE

If you’ve bought your airless sprayer from us then you’ve purchased a top quality product that is capable of providing years of exceptional service.

The caveat is that, as with any professional quality equipment, you need to look after it through regular cleaning and maintenance.

Your maintenance programme should include:

  • Clean your sprayer after every use—this includes the gun, tip, hose, and filter system
  • Use QTector pump protector after cleaning
  • Check the tip for wear & replace when worn. Worn tips use more paint, give more overspray & cost you money!
  • Oil the packings once a day
  • Check packing tension periodically
  • Clean the fittings

Don’t just assume a rinse with water will do the job.

Depending on the product you’ve been spraying you may need to use a solvent cleaner.

Q-Tech have some excellent products to ensure your machine is always in peak condition including Q-Tector to provide a complete clean and lubrication throughout the sprayer and Q-Lube for comprehensive, long-lasting protection of the wet cup and pump.

Store equipment such as hoses where they won’t be exposed to the weather or sunlight.

CHANGING TIPS

For airless paint sprayers, the tip is one of the most critical factors affecting your spray-painting results.

Clogged or worn tips create problems with clogging and blotchy spray patterns and result in a poor finish.

A sure sign that the tip is wearing out is that the spray pattern width or ‘fan’ becomes much narrower.

At the same time, it will also be using much more paint for the same surface area.

Worn tips lead to heavy coats that can run or bubble as well as simply costing more to paint any given surface.

Using the right size and type tip for the product, pump pressure, and the nature of the project will help make sure your tips last longer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

qtech-airless-paint-spray-gun-stand
What do the 3 digit numbers on the Tips mean?

The first digit indicates the width of the fan and it works like this; a 2 gives 4” fan, a 3 gives a 6” fan and so on.

The last 2 digits indicate the size of the orifice in thousandths of an inch.

So, a 10 equals 0.010”. This tells you how much spray will exit the tip.

For example, a 217 tip and 517 tip will spray the same amount of paint but the 517 tip will spread it across twice the width of fan resulting in a wider but thinner spray pattern.

How do I get an ultrafine finish?

TriTech supply the Ultra Finish (Gold) Tips. These are perfect for delivering a super fine, high quality glass-like finish.

The Ultra Finish tips actually atomise the paint not once but twice giving a very soft fine spray pattern with almost no overspray.

Plus, the tip will operate at pressures as low as 1000 psi giving you incredible control of your paint delivery.

How should I spray-paint corners?

Many experts recommend spraying corners first with a quick vertical stroke straight into the corner and then moving on to the larger flat surfaces.

If you move too slowly while spraying the corners, you risk leaving an overly heavy coat that can sag or run.

What are the best orifice sizes for different materials?

Every paint product has a different composition and you should always check the manufacturer’s instructions.

As a very general guideline, you can start with these recommendations in the table below.
