Compare Titan 440i (Carry)

Titan 440i (Carry)

Titan began as an American company in the 1960s and built a reputation for innovative design and exceptional engineering. Wagner acquired ownership in 1999. The Titan 440i has been providing excellent painting results for 30 years so it’s been truly tried and tested.

The Titan is the 3rd heaviest of our comparison models weighing in at 15.9 kg, which is still light enough to be easily portable. The 0.65kw or 0.8 hp output can easily pump out 2 litres per minute, which puts it on a par with the similarly powerful Wagner and Graco 395 models.

The maximum tip size of 23 and a maximum operating pressure of 3300 PSI allows for a wide range of potential spray applications. The Titan is great for spraying a wide range of liquids including; stains, lacquers, enamels, latex, and other low and medium viscosity coatings.

The Titan comes with a 4-year warranty. This compares very favourably with the 3-year warranty for the Graco models or the Wagner.

The low price of $1,900 means the Titan offers solid value as a good all-rounder.

Compare Graco 390 (Stand)

Graco 390 (Stand)

The Graco 390 is the least powerful of our comparison models yet, surprisingly, it’s not the lightest, weighing in at 14kg. This is an additional 3kg over the Q-Tech model, which packs more power punch.

Its electric motor produces a low 0.47kw or 0.60 hp to produce a maximum paint flow rate of just 1.8 litres per minute. A maximum tip size of 21 rounds out this package as an o.k starter for the home handy person but it’s not really adequate for the more serious DIYer or professional.

The Graco warranty of 3 years is standard but when you factor in the price of $2,277, the additional weight and the lower power output it becomes obvious that there are other models, such as the Q-Tech, that offer considerably better value for your money.

Q-Tech QT190

Q-Tech have been producing superbly designed and engineered paint spraying equipment for many years now.

At just 11.4 kg it’s easily the lightest and most portable model in our comparison range.

The QT190 sits on a rugged stand allowing for rapid deployment from one area to another. The compact design also means it takes up little space in your van.

Although it’s small and lightweight the QT190 is designed for solid commercial use. It’s ideal for interior walls, ceilings & trim as well as exterior roofs and walls.

You can use it to spray emulsions, top coats, wood preservatives, masonry coatings, and most commonly used low-viscosity water or solvent based coatings.

The 700 Watt (0.93hp) motor offers a maximum working pressure of 207 Bar | 3000 psi and with a maximum tip size of .021” and a substantial flow rate of 1.9 litres per minute. This is only slightly less than the bigger and heavier Graco, Wagner and Titan models.

In fact, the Graco 395 is nearly 8kgs heavier, which is a hefty difference. You’ll really appreciate the lighter weight of the Q-Tech at the end of a full-on day of spraying.

Q-Tech sprayers come with a full 2-year warranty for all parts. Another advantage of the QP019 is that you can disassemble the sprayer rapidly and all parts are easily replaceable.

It offers really good value with a price tag of just $1,795. This is the 2nd lowest price (only the Titan 440i is cheaper) of all our comparison models.

With a surprisingly powerful motor in a lightweight package, the QT190 packs a powerful punch and hits well above its weight. And the price of just $2420.00 (nearly half the price of the Graco 395) means the QT190 has to be the no.1 contender for any professional or serious home DIYer looking for the perfect sprayer for those smaller jobs.

Plus, all our Q-Tech models come with the exquisite Tritech T360 spray gun for precision spraying and professional results. Enjoy the comfort of ergonomic design all day long. A TriTech 517 airless tip and guard as well as a 15 metre textile braided hose complete our standard Q-Tech package.

Graco 395(Stand)

Graco is another name brand that has been making top quality sprayers for a long time. Graco began in the U.S and now provides its excellent sales and service throughout the world. The Graco 395 has established itself as an excellent sprayer for professional small project use.

The Graco 395 is the heaviest in this comparison range by a good 3kg. It might not sound like much but by the time you’ve lugged 19kg around over a long day of spraying that extra weight may add to your fatigue levels. The Q-Tech, for example weighs a significant 8kgs less.

Its 0.65kw (0.8 hp) motor can easily pump out 2 litres per minute. This is the same as the Titan and Wagner models. A maximum tip size of 23 also matches the Titan and Wagner models.

Like, the Wagner, Graco provides a comprehensive 3-year warranty.

The Graco is also the most expensive model in the range at $3,410. You need to ask whether the Graco provides twice the value of the Titan or Q-Tech models. And the answer is no, the Titan and Q-Tech offer considerably more value for your dollar.

Compare Wagner PS3.21

Wagner PS3.21

Wagner Australia is part of the parent Wagner group founded in 1972 and benefits from its solid reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality professional spray-painting equipment.

The Wagner weighs in at 16 kg making it the 2nd heaviest model in our comparison range. This is still light enough to make it easily portable, but you will notice the difference between the Wagner and the much lighter Q-Tech over a long day of spraying.

Its power output and paint flow rates are comparable to the Titan and Graco 395 at 0.65kw (0.8 hp) output and a healthy 2 litres per minute. The maximum tip size of 23 is likewise the same as the Titan and Graco 395. It’s maximum operating pressure is slightly higher than the Titan at 3335 PSI.

The Wagner comes with a 3-year warranty, which is about average for sprayers in this class.

At $3,249 the Wagner is the 2nd most expensive model here and at nigh on twice the price of the Titan or the Q-Tech you have to seriously question what value you are getting for the extra cost.

The Q-Tech earns a well-deserved 1st place scoring 27 points (out of a possible 30) thanks to its class-leading power to weight ratio and price.

The Titan, in 2nd place, came close with 24 points but it lost points due to its heavier weight.

The Wagner scored 18 points for 3rd place, losing points for weight and price. But it made up ground with its excellent warranty.

The Graco models took the two bottom places with the 395 scoring 17 points and the Graco 390 earning a lowly 15 points. Poor weight to power ratios and the high purchase price were the main factors for their low scores.

So, the Q-Tech QT190, with a superior power to weight ratio and excellent price, really stands out as the small sprayer we would recommend for the professional or experienced DIYer.
